Postseason selection process

State Voting

  • 60 CVOA referees will be selected to referee the final week of the CHSAA volleyball postseason tournament
  • Who gets to vote: CVOA regular members, Coaches, Athletic Directors, and Assignors
  • The state is divided into five regions, with each region contributing a certain number of referees to the final pool of 60 officials selected. The number of officials selected per region is based on a percentage of the total number of eligible postseason-certified members in the region as of October 1 of each calendar year. The number per region may increase or decrease each year based on postseason-eligible officials. In other words, the more postseason-eligible officials the higher the percentage of officials selected from a region.
  • Regions are defined as:
    • Region 1 – Denver (Area 1) – 13 to 15 officials selected
    • Region 2 – Northeast (Areas 2, 3, 16, 21) – 13 to 15 officials selected
    • Region 3 – Southeast (Areas 8, 11, 13, 14, 17) – 13 to 15 officials selected
    • Region 4 – Southwest (Areas 4, 9, 10, 18, 20) – 7 to 9 officials selected
    • Region 5 – Northwest (Areas 5, 6, 7, 12, 19) – 7 to 9 officials selected
